Dr. Hakan Doğanay Hair + Beard Donor Revision Case

Revision patient case: This archive follows a patient with a previous failed hair transplant who planned a new procedure using both scalp and beard donor grafts at Dr. Hakan Doğanay’s clinic.
Case Summary
- Doctor: Dr. Hakan Doğanay
- Procedure date: September 2018
- Case type: revision after a failed prior transplant
- Planned donor sources: scalp and beard
- Original estimate: about 2,100 scalp grafts plus around 1,100 beard grafts in the page title / narrative context
Because the historical account provides graft estimates rather than one confirmed total, the planned scalp and beard graft numbers should not be presented as a verified surgical result. Prior donor extraction can constrain revision planning, and a new treatment requires individual clinical assessment.

Further Reading and Case Context
In this archive, the images and patient account should be read alongside the starting hair-loss pattern, donor-area appearance and dated follow-up images. For revision and beard-donor cases, distinguish the intended donor sources from the grafts ultimately implanted; the two figures may not be the same.
For broader context, read our hair transplant planning guide and FUE versus DHI comparison. These explain general considerations and do not independently verify the clinical outcome pictured here.
How to Interpret This Patient Case
This page is an archived patient case rather than a controlled clinical study. Graft count, technique, timing, pricing and patient impressions should be read as historical case details only where they were recorded in the original account. Hair-transplant outcomes vary with donor density, hair calibre, recipient-area size, surgical planning, healing and the progression of future hair loss.
This revision archive concerns a patient who reports a prior unsuccessful transplant. The approximately 2,100 scalp and 1,100 beard graft figures are estimates in the title and account, not a confirmed surgical total. Keep the proposed donor sources separate from completed work when reading the timeline; revision planning is case-specific.
Useful Points to Compare
- Starting hair-loss pattern and donor density
- Reported graft count and recipient-area coverage
- Donor extraction pattern and visible thinning
- Hairline design, direction and density distribution
- Time elapsed between surgery and each photograph
Why the Planned Graft Counts Need Careful Reading
The patient describes a revision after an unsuccessful earlier procedure and discusses taking donor grafts from both the scalp and beard. In the original narrative, beard extraction is estimated at roughly 1,000–1,500 grafts and scalp extraction starts at approximately 2,000 grafts. These are planning figures, not a verified final surgical count.
Revision planning depends on donor reserves, existing scarring and the condition of the recipient area. Beard and scalp hair can have different thickness and growth characteristics; the original photo gallery provides historical context but does not establish whether a proposed combination achieved a particular final density.
Hello friends ,
Hair transplantation was performed in Hakan Doganay Hair Transplant Clinic in September 2018. Although excited, I was a little nervous because my previous hair transplant had failed.
This time, grafts will be taken from both the donor area and the beard. An average of 1000-1500 grafts will be taken from the beard. At least 2000 grafts, maximum whatever comes out of the hair an average of 3500 grafts will be processed.
